This unit is great - it cools and removes moisture, but more importantly, is very quiet. Just a small change in the decibel level when the compressor is running than when it is not. If the value of tranquility in a window air conditioner to get it. I have tried many brands and have been disappointed by most. This reminds me of my old Panasonic unit - quiet. The unit is great, easy to drive and cools very quickly, but --- not as quiet as I would have liked. Installation is terrible, Manuel is misspelled and do not have a lot of information. The device is designed to be mounted on a wood frame windows, but they want to drive eight wood screws. I had nothing to do because I have a vinyl window, I got it installed, but I had rubber shims between the frame and where they touch the window to reduce noise and vibration, the side curtains Used & bezel is very thin. The sleeve should open 13-5/8 H, and my window with 15 H, but hardly fit the device. I would return the device, but when shipping was about $ 35 since I bought it and another $ 35. Return it and probably less a handling fee, I have decided to keep it. It's just okay. Not as good as I had hoped. Great ideas, poor execution by Venetian girl thingy I bought this because my old room air conditioner, aka the "bazooka", when enabled in the middle of the night, scared out of my mind is half asleep bejezuz. (The dog). (And fish). So, this thing has won each of stars because it does not scare me awake. It's actually pretty quiet. Not silent, but above the minimum level when the fan - it is certainly bearable. Please note, however, no sound of water rustling, which the manufacturer says is normal. It 'been a nightmare to install (and I consider myself an expert in the art of putting things together). He was super nice if the people of Friedrich wrote in big letters somewhere, do not attempt to install at warm temperatures.
